"DO not sabotage the new Chief Commissioner because if you do, it means you are sabotaging your own organisation."

That was the final message from Tan Sri Azam Baki, who ended his duties as Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after six years at the helm of the commission today.

In his farewell speech, he stressed that all MACC members must give their full support to the new Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman, as well as the commission's top management, to ensure smooth administration and continuity of the organisation's legacy.

"Please support the MACC's top management because they will continue our legacy," he said at the appreciation ceremony for the MACC Chief Commissioner today.

“This organisation must remain relevant as envisioned by the earlier leadership. I am only continuing the legacy left behind for the sake of the country and the people,” he said.

Azam also expressed his gratitude to the organising committee and MACC officers for the heartfelt farewell after 42 years of service in the public sector. – May 12, 2026
