Special committee’s report on Azam Baki’s shares expected soon, says Fahmi, as PM Anwar maintains stance

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s shareholding probe report by the Special Investigation Committee is expected to be completed soon.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was not raised during today’s Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, according to New Straits Times.

“This issue was not discussed at the Cabinet meeting. However, as the Prime Minister mentioned during yesterday’s parliamentary question-and-answer session, the report from the Attorney-General is expected to be completed within a day or two,” he said at his weekly press conference in Putrajaya.

Yesterday, Anwar defended the government’s handling of the allegations against Azam, stressing that investigations are still ongoing and that his position on the matter “then and now” remains unchanged.

He stressed that the investigative process is transparent, led by the Attorney General, and follows established legal procedures.

Anwar also clarified that investigations can be extended if initial inquiries are found to be insufficient.
