Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki today denied that his officers contacted Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan over his claim of being pressured to support the prime minister.

“No officer from MACC has contacted him. It could have been someone else,” the nation’s top graft buster told reporters.

He added that it would be better for the Bersatu MP to lodge an MACC report on his claim.

“That is what should be done by him or any Malaysian who has been offered bribes.”

In a Facebook post yesterday, Wan Saiful said he was prepared to cooperate with the anti-graft agency after receiving a text message, purportedly from MACC.

Chaos had erupted in the Dewan Rakyat after Wan Saiful claimed he had been contacted numerous times via phone by unidentified individuals, after which he agreed to meet with them.

He said the attempts to sway his support came after he claimed trial to 18 charges of money laundering amounting to RM5.59 million in October last year.
