Kota Kinabalu: Sabah-based major road infrastructure construction player, Azam Jaya Berhad has announced its second quarter and six months  financial results for the period ended 30 June 2025.

Azam Jaya recorded revenue of RM43.1 million, compared to RM58.6 million in the immediate preceding quarter, mainly attributable to a temporary slowdown in construction activity arising from site-specific factors that required additional coordination and resource planning.

The Group remains proactive in refining its execution strategies to better accommodate local conditions and support steady progress across all project locations.

Despite the lower revenue, net profit for the quarter grew more than 3-fold to RM2.4 million from RM0.5 million in 1QFY25, driven by a variation of price claim submitted to the client during the period.

Revenue for 1HFY25 stood at RM101.7 million as compared to RM148.8 million in the previous financial year (1HFY24). The decline was due to certain project sites encountering a more complex demographic landscape which temporarily slowed construction activity.

Correspondingly, net profit for 1HFY25 stood at RM2.9 million, compared to RM7.8 million in 1HFY24.

“Notwithstanding the challenges encountered during the quarter, we expect to sustain stable performance in the upcoming quarters via our efforts in cost management, operational efficiency, and client engagement.

With an unbilled order book of RM1.38 billion as at 30 June 2025, we have healthy earnings visibility and a solid pipeline of projects that will sustain performance in the coming quarters,” Datuk Jessica Lo, Executive Director of Azam Jaya, said.

“The recent award of the RM120.9 million Tawau Airport upgrading contract adds further strength to our portfolio and reinforces our role in enhancing Sabah’s connectivity and infrastructure. Together with our ongoing involvement in the Pan Borneo Highway, these projects position us strongly to contribute to our long-term growth.”“Looking ahead, we are encouraged by the prospects presented under the Federal Government’s 13th  Malaysia Plan, particularly in transport upgrades, industrial expansion, and rural connectivity.

With these initiatives, we believe the operating environment will remain conducive for sustainable growth. Backed by our disciplined execution strategies, Azam Jaya is well-positioned to leverage these opportunities and continue delivering value while supporting Sabah’s development agenda.”To recap, Azam Jaya raised RM61.5 million in proceeds from its listing on the Main Market of Bursa Securities on 11 November 2024. It is under the construction sector and carries the stock name of AZAMJAYA and stock code of 5329.
