Azerbaijan officials have accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack near an airport and a school.

The country’s foreign ministry said one drone crashed near the airport in Nakhchivan, and another one near a school, and that two civilians were injured.

Nakhchivan is territorially separated from the rest of Azerbaijan.

In a statement, the ministry said it “strongly condemns this incident” and “reserves the right to take necessary retaliatory measures.”

The ministry added that it summoned the Iranian ambassador to lodge a protest. Iran has not acknowledged targeting Azerbaijan.
