Babysitter arrested after one-year-old girl dies in Seremban clinic

A one-year-old girl has died with abdominal injuries, leading to the arrest of her babysitter who was released on bail as police investigate the case.

SEREMBAN: A one-year-old girl has died after being found unconscious at a private clinic in Bandar Sendayan.

The toddler was brought to the clinic by her mother at 5.50 pm on Monday, where a doctor performed CPR but could not save her.

Seremban police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim said the girl had been under the care of a 32-year-old babysitter for about five months.

He said the child was reported to have been in a frail condition.

A post-mortem at Rembau Hospital revealed injuries on the girl’s abdomen.

The babysitter was arrested and later released on bail.

Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(A) of the Child Act 2001.
