Kota Kinabalu: The Beaufort Bagandang Festival will be held again this year after last taking place in 2016. Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih said the festival’s return aims to revive the event and promote Beaufort’s cultural heritage in conjunction with Visit Sabah Year 2027.
“We are bringing back the festival after it was last held in 2016, with the organising committee planning to revive its festive atmosphere and showcase it to the public.
“The festival also has the potential to promote Beaufort’s unique culture and attractions ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027, while supporting efforts to preserve local cultural heritage.
“The idea also originated from Tun himself when he was Sabah Chief Minister,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Wednesday.
Isnin, who chairs the 2026 Beaufort Bagandang Festival organising committee, said the visit was to brief Musa on the event and invite him to attend as guest of honour and officiate at the festival.
The festival, scheduled for Oct 29 to Nov 1, will feature various activities and sales stalls to attract visitors to Beaufort.
“We are expecting about 5,000 visitors as we are only now reviving the festival’s atmosphere.
“I hope the public will come to Beaufort, visit us and join in making the festival a lively occasion,” he said.
Also present were Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Datuk Ruslan Muharam, Beaufort District Officer Mohd Nazri Ajun and Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh.
