JAKARTA - Bali’s immigration regional office said on July 3 it deported 342 foreign nationals across the province during January-June 2026 after finding immigration violations, including misuse of stay permits and overstays.
The office said the enforcement was carried out by immigration units at Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Singaraja, Tabanan and Klungkung, together with the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center. Officers used field operations and monitoring at locations considered vulnerable to foreign-national activity, according to the release.
Most violations involved misuse of stay permits and passing the permitted stay period, the office said. Surveillance also covered activities affecting public order, breaches of customary norms and involvement in illegal economic activity.
Under Indonesia’s immigration law, officers may impose administrative immigration action on foreign nationals considered to endanger security or public order, or who do not obey Indonesian laws.
Felucia Sengky Ratna, head of Bali’s immigration regional office, said in a statement, “Deportation and entry-ban sanctions are imposed on foreign nationals who violate the rules. This step is a form of regulatory enforcement to maintain public order.”
The figure comes during a busy period for Bali’s international arrivals. BPS Bali’s official statistics table recorded 578,251 direct foreign tourist visits to Bali in May 2026. Its June 2 official tourism release recorded 553,328 direct foreign tourist visits in April, up 17.21% from March, with Australian passport holders accounting for the largest share at 26.46%.
Immigration enforcement in Bali had already expanded before the semester total was released.
The Directorate General of Immigration inaugurated the Dharma Dewata Immigration Patrol Task Force in Bali on April 15, with about 100 immigration officers present at the launch in Denpasar. The directorate said the patrols would operate at points considered vulnerable to immigration violations.
On May 5, the Directorate General of Immigration said Bali officers had netted 62 foreign nationals during a Dharma Dewata immigration patrol. The agency said the patrol focused on overstay violations, false information used to obtain visas, illegal work, alleged fictitious investment activity and other security or public-order concerns.
The July 3 release also cited a March illegal narcotics laboratory case involving two Russian nationals, a British Interpol fugitive detained at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in March and an Australian Interpol fugitive whose departure was blocked in June.
