Planning to balik kampung soon?

Before you hit the road, take 2 minutes to save this because in an emergency, having the right number at the right time can make all the difference.

From car breakdowns to accidents or medical situations, these are things you don’t want to figure out on the spot.

1. Main emergency hotline (Save this first)

If you’re facing a serious situation like an accident, crime, or medical emergency:

Call 999 (MERS – Malaysian Emergency Response Services)

This will connect you to:

  • Police (PDRM)
  • Ambulance / Medical services
  • Fire & Rescue (Bomba)
  • Civil Defence (APM)
  • Maritime Enforcement (APMM)

Tip: Stay calm and give your exact location (highway kilometre marker or nearby landmark).

2. Highway breakdown? Call these instead

If your car breaks down (flat tyre, engine issue, or no fuel), highway patrol teams can assist you, often for free.

Save these:

  • PLUSLine (PLUS & ELITE): 1-800-88-0000
  • ANIH (Karak & LPT1): 1-700-818-700
  • LPT2: 1-800-88-0220
  • LLM (traffic info): 1-800-88-7752
  • KESAS: 03-5633 7188
  • LDP & SPRINT: 03-7494 7333
  • DUKE: 03-6251 3100
  • LATAR: 03-6145 1515
  • SKVE: 1-300-88-0026

3. Avoid “Ulat Tunda” — Call your insurance

If your car needs towing, don’t simply accept help from random tow trucks.

Instead, contact your insurance provider directly:

  • Etiqa: 1-800-88-6491
  • Allianz: 1-800-22-5542
  • Takaful Malaysia: 1-800-88-8788
  • Zurich: 1-300-88-6222
  • AIG: 1-800-88-8811
  • AXA Affin: 1-800-88-1033
  • Berjaya Sompo: 1-800-18-8033

Reminder: Save your policy number + hotline in your phone before your trip.

4. Download these apps before you go

Your phone can help you faster than you think:

  • MyPLUS App
Has an SOS button that alerts PLUSRonda with your GPS location
  • Waze / Google Maps
Helps you avoid jams, report accidents, and find alternative routes
  • CARPUT / BateriKu
For battery replacement, petrol delivery, tyre changes, and towing

If your car breaks down, do this immediately

  1. Turn on hazard lights
  2. Move your car to the emergency lane if possible
  3. Get everyone out and stand behind the road barrier
  4. Place a warning triangle at least 45m behind your car
  5. Politely decline unknown tow truck offers
