A police officer and suspect were shot in Baltimore on Tuesday in what police have described as an “active shooter incident.”
The incident took place in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue, close to the Agudath Israel of Baltimore synagogue, shortly after noon.
The injured officer was hospitalized, and the suspect’s identity — and current condition — has not been revealed.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said the shooting occurred after an officer responded to a “barricade situation at a residence.” The city’s police union said that “all involved members are in good spirits.”
Aerial footage shows a heavy police presence in the northwest section of the city, with armored cars and dozens of officers patrolling the streets of the suburban neighborhood. Several streets have been closed, and police urged people to stay away from the area.
