THE principal of a secondary school broke down in tears as she publicly apologised to parents after a tragic incident in which a Form Four girl was fatally stabbed by a Form Two male student.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the principal, visibly emotional, addressed a meeting with parents at the school, offering an unreserved apology and pledging to take full responsibility for the incident, which has shocked the nation.
“On behalf of the school, I apologise for what has happened. No one wanted this to occur, but it has,” she said.
“We will take full responsibility, and if any parents have suggestions or steps we should take that are reasonable, we will implement them – so long as it ensures our children can study in comfort and safety.”
The principal acknowledged the immense difficulty of managing a student population of 1,197, but affirmed the school’s commitment to doing its best.
“It’s not easy to run a school with 1,197 students, but we accept the challenge and are doing our best. I appreciate the support from parents in this matter. Please try to understand us – we are also deeply affected,” she said.
The apology comes in the wake of a fatal incident involving two students at the school. Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, said preliminary investigations indicated the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds.
The attack is believed to have taken place near the girls’ toilet on school grounds.
The case has sparked national concern over student safety, school discipline, and the mental wellbeing of teenagers. Authorities have yet to confirm the motive behind the killing, and investigations are ongoing. - October 18, 2025
