M. Indhran's journey is a powerful narrative of overcoming adversity and embracing change. Today, he is a prompt engineer. A Prompt Engineer is a professional who specialises in developing, refining and optimising Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated text prompts to ensure they are accurate, engaging and relevant for various applications.

Beginning his career at HSBC in 2005, Indhran faced initial challenges due to his inexperience in banking. Despite being ridiculed and reprimanded, he persevered, eventually earning respect and finding enjoyment in his work.

His life took an unexpected turn when he migrated to Australia in 2008, right into the onset of the global financial crisis. Despite initial success, he found himself jobless and financially strained, leading to a crisis of confidence and a battle with depression.

At his lowest point, a serendipitous opportunity in video production for a financial planner marked a turning point. Despite having no experience in video editing, Indhran's determination led him to learn the skill quickly. This experience opened doors to the world of storytelling and marketing.

Indhran bounced back. Resilient and innovative, Indhran is one of Malaysia’s first prompt engineers. Today, Indhran's remarkable journey finds him as a prompt engineer at the cutting edge of AI technology.

“My role involved crafting and optimising prompts to interact effectively with AI models, blending storytelling expertise with technological insights. This transition showcased adaptability and foresight in embracing AI's transformative potential,” said Indhran, who continued to make impactful contributions by integrating his rich experience in storytelling and marketing with the dynamic world of artificial intelligence.

“I later discovered the Kishotenketsu structure, an ancient Japanese storytelling method, transformed my approach to storytelling in business. Then I adapted this method, successfully applying it to various projects, including a significant engagement with GEMS (Global Education Management Systems) where I used storytelling to grow business tenfold in 24 months.”

Indhran's journey into AI began in earnest in 2018 as Chief Marketing Officer of a Houston-based AI solutions provider. He has since become a prominent figure in AI-driven storytelling, leveraging his unique blend of storytelling skills and AI technology. His approach to AI and storytelling focuses on making meaningful connections, influencing decisions, and driving business results.

Today, Indhran's work spans various sectors, including Deep Technology, Financial Services, and Education. His story is a testament to the power of resilience, adaptability, and the innovative application of storytelling in the digital age.

AI has rapidly evolved from a scientific curiosity to a cornerstone of business. Breakthroughs in machine learning, data analytics and computing power have fueled AI’s transition into a robust tool for process automation, decision support and personalisation.

AI now influences functions from marketing to supply chain management. Industry applications today include:

  • Predictive analytics - Forecast trends and behaviours to guide planning
  • Prescriptive actions - Apply data insights to optimise decisions
  • Automation - Perform administrative and manual tasks
  • Personalization - Tailor options and recommendations
  • Conversational interfaces - Chatbots for customer and employee support
  • Cognitive enhancements - Augment human capabilities

Initially deemed a futuristic concept with tangible benefits, it has led businesses to adopt AI.
