(UPDATE) OVER P10 million worth of chemical precursors and laboratory equipment were seized in an operation to serve a seizure warrant on a suspected illegal drug laboratory in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City on Jan. 24.

Mayor Dave Gonzalo Malapitan and members of the Northern Police District (NPD) served the warrant issued by Caloocan Regional Trial Court Judge Rodolfo Azucena Jr. They were accompanied by 1st District Rep. Oscar Malapitan. No one was arrested during the operation, but lawmen seized two containers of liquid chemical substances believed to be phenylacetone, with an estimated street value of more than P10 million, police said.

Col. Joey Goforth, city police chief, said laboratory-grade glass flasks, funnels, electric heating mantles, a stainless-steel heating and mixing base unit, and other equipment used in drug production were also confiscated.

The Malapitans commended the police for the operation.

“As I have been declaring in the past, the illegal drug trade will never have a place in the city. Our lawmen have been closely watching all suspicious places all over the city to go after suspected drug personalities without let-up,” the mayor said.
