BANTING: A teenage girl was charged in the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court here today with attempting to murder a Form Three student at a secondary school here last Monday.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Syafiq Yazid said no plea was recorded from the 15-year-old girl after the charge was read out by a court interpreter before Magistrate Maslinda Selamat.
According to the charge sheet, the teenager is accused of attempting to murder a 15-year-old girl by injuring her with a knife with the intention of causing her death at 9.50 am on July 6 at a secondary school in Banting.
The charge was framed under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years upon conviction.
Earlier, the teenage girl arrived at the court at about 8.32 am under tight police escort.
