Our Prime Minister obviously loves Burberry. There is no doubt about it. He or whoever is in charge of his wardrobe adores Burberry.
This week Ismail Sabri Yaakob is in the spotlight again for wearing a white long-sleeved slim-cut Burberry with its large logo on his chest.
It costs RM2,390 on the Burberry website and is labelled as ‘Slim Fit Horseferry Print Stretch Cotton Shirt’. The last two Burberry shirts that he wore were bright and colourful. That had drawn comments from netizens comparing him to the President of Indonesia.
They say why couldn’t he be like Jokowi whose outfit is always a plain white long sleeve shirt as his usual office wear.
This week their wishes are fulfilled our Prime Minister is in a white Burberry long-sleeved shirt. Are you guys happy now?
Certainly not. Most are quite disappointed because people are still struggling with increasing prices of food and there he was spotted wearing another very expensive item of clothing eating plain rice with fish curry and fried egg (?).
Yes, his heart is still with the poor, the B40 who are hard pressed to have fish and eggs daily let alone a Burberry that costs more than a month’s salary for an average worker.
The PM doesn’t seem to have his ears to the ground. He does not appear to be listening to the pleas of the rakyat.
He might be insensitive to the plight of the poor that he seems to champion. If he was, his wardrobe was not at all in sync with his words of sympathy for the struggling masses.
It reminds me of the time at Jom Riuh where he announced incentives for the poor while dressed in another expensive pink-coloured Burberry shirt.
Does his wardrobe manager want him to be the ambassador for Burberry?
Or is he already appointed as a Malaysian ambassador for the brand? It does look like he had signed up with Burberry because from our observation, he has not been seen in any other brand.
I hope his wardrobe manager would care to come forward and clear the air.
At least the rakyat would know that the PM is getting the royalty for promoting the brand if indeed he was paid as a brand ambassador.
