Barcelona coach Xavi remains keen to sign Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Spain international is inside the final year of his contract and a priority target for Xavi.
Barca, however, know tension has grown with Chelsea in the past week after trumping the Blues to the signing of former Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
It's been suggested Chelsea have broke off all communication with Barca in response.
AS says, meanwhile, Xavi has called Azpilicueta in the last 24 hours urging him to stay "calm" and "patient" as they wait for the two clubs to ease the tension between eachother.
At Barca, they remain confident of signing the veteran for €4m plus bonuses.
