Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has declared himself Germany's No1.
Ter Stegen insists even when Manuel Neuer returns from injury at Bayern Munich, he should be regarded as Germany's first-choice keeper.
He said, "Yes, I am number 1! I will do everything to keep this role. I don't know at what stage of his career Manu is found. After such a serious injury the most important thing is that he returns to the field. I cannot influence these matters. I cannot and do not want to waste energy on this thing.
"I cannot tell the coach what to do. My focus is on what I can show in the next two games.
"In 2017 Manu was clearly number 1. I had shown my performance and I was hoping to be the goalkeeper of the national team. It was not so. The decision was made by the coach. The situation has now changed. Now I can play my cards."
