Departing Al-Ettifaq captain Jordan Henderson offered himself to Barcelona last month.
Henderson has agreed to end his contract with Al-Ettifaq and is set to sign with Ajax.
Sport says the 33-year-old former Liverpool midfielder offered himself to Barca a few weeks ago.
The veteran and his management were aware the Spanish giants were looking for a midfielder this month.
As such, Barca were contacted to discover if there was interest.
Blaugrana management, including president Joan Laporta, considered Henderson before ultimately choosing to say 'no thanks'.
