The Catalans are still working to find room in their budget in order to register the former Athletic Bilbao defender.
Fellow summer arrivals Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu were clear to play against Getafe.
Also registered were Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Sergi Roberto, who all penned new deals this summer. The returning Ez Abde was also cleared after his loan with Osasuna.
Barca, however, still must find more financial room for Martinez, along with Marcos Alonso and Inaki Pena.
