- American bare-knuckle boxer Paulie Malignaggi has criticised NHS doctors, labelling them "inept animals" after experiencing complications from post-fight surgery.
- Malignaggi claimed that medical staff in Leeds failed to properly clean his wounds following his fight in October 2025, which led to persistent infections.
- He stated that some NHS personnel would not be permitted to work with farm animals in the US, let alone human beings in hospitals.
- A spokesperson for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust apologised for Malignaggi's wait in their Emergency Department.
- The Trust explained that patients are prioritised based on clinical need and invited Malignaggi to contact them to discuss his complaint further.
