TAWAU: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Tanjung Batu, Samasuddin Yusop, has set up 40 youth polling centres to attract the interest and attention of neutral voters in the constituency.

He said this new political initiative involved young people from villages and sub-localities and is managed and implemented by groups who are not Umno members.

“During the campaign period, they act as BN supporters…we hope this will form a positive bond that can continue after the election. I believe this will also have a good impact for BN,” he said.

Samasuddin, also known as SBY, acknowledged challenges from within the party as well as garnering support from young voters.

“The internal team is our real strength, but at the same time, our weakness comes from within.

“We understand and know the clear external opponents, but we may not always know the threats from inside,” he said.

Samasuddin reminded his supporters to maintain discipline and patience, avoiding any involvement in provocations or violence, especially during the final five days of campaigning.

He noted that prior to the campaign, his team had been advised to remain patient, as this has historically been a core strength of BN.
