Barzaga pretty sure he'll be fine if expelled

MANILA, Philippines — Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco Barzaga said he is “pretty sure” he would be fine even if he were expelled from the House of Representatives.

“Not really,” Barzaga said in a media interview at the House on Monday when asked if he was worried about the possibility of expulsion.

“Even if I lose my job in Congress, I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine since I have plenty of other opportunities in life,” he added.

Barzaga’s second suspension imposed by the House has already ended.

Deputy Speaker and Iloilo 1st District Rep. Janette Garin earlier said Barzaga should be expelled from the chamber.

“With the numerous complaints already pending, yes. Because nothing is changing,” Garin said in an April 28, 2026 interview with reporters, when asked whether he should be expelled.

She noted that historically in Congress, repeated suspensions could lead to harsher penalties.

“Historically, in Congress, if you were already suspended and then you have another suspension—and in his case, the second suspension had a very strong warning that if he repeats it—it will proceed to a higher penalty,” she said.
