Malaysia has a unique blend of cultures, rich history, natural beauty, and modern amenities with the tourism tagline ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’. It is gearing up for an exciting year ‘Visit Malaysia 2026’ in short VM2026, as a nationwide tourism campaign with an ambitious target of attracting 47 million tourists & achieving RM147.1 billion in tourism receipts. For the hospitality sector, particularly hotels, this presents a pivotal opportunity not just to tap into tourist demand, but also to accelerate digitalization and sustainability - two powerful forces reshaping the structure of the increasingly lobal tourism landscape. In fact, during my speaking engagement at various conferences and holiday overseas throughout the year 2025, I have actively been promoting VM2026. I am happy that BUSCFI Chairman Dr. Aboulkhair Torason, and wife Jahara Tarason, and their daughter, Ihsaan Tarason and her cousin, Muhammad Badar Ajanab from Isabela deBasilan in the Philippines decided to coincide their family visit for MScIBF student Ahmad Makkih Tarason at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with VM2026. My wife, Zarina & I reciprocated the family like hospitality accorded to us in Isabela. (isabelacity.gov.ph>basilan-ulama-council-foundation-incorporated<)

The BUSCFI is a prominent Islamic religious body in Basilan, Philippines, composed of Islamic scholars (Ulama) with advanced degrees from the Middle Eastern universities, focused in promoting Islamic values, peace, and ethical governance, and actively involved in establishing a local Halal certification body to boost the region's halal economy. It is working with the local governments, like Governor of Basilan Province, and Mayor of Isabela City deBasilan.

In essence, the BUSCFI acts as a vital religious and ethical anchor, driving both spiritual and economic development in Basilan through education, halal certification, and advocacy for peace and good governance. It operates a fully functional Halal Certifying Body (HCB) that audits and accredits businesses to ensure they meet Islamic dietary laws & Philippines National Standards. With Dr. Aboulkhair's visit to KL, more businessmen will come for VM2026.
