Batang Kali death toll is 92, not 94 as reported earlier: cops

KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed has clarified that the total number of victims in the deadly Batang Kali landslide is 92 instead of the previously reported 94.

Speaking to reporters at the site of the tragedy today, he said that authorities had known the figure a few days ago but did not announce it because checks had to be carried out first.

“Confusion arose due to overlapping registrations at the campsite,” he said briefly, assuring that efforts to search for the remaining victims will continue.

With the updated tally, only one victim has yet to be found. – The Vibes, December 22, 2022
