Batik Air will launch three new direct routes from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) in Subang to Miri, Sibu and Bali in December, expanding its domestic and international network from the airport.

The new services will give travellers in the Klang Valley more options to fly directly to destinations in Sarawak and Indonesia without having to travel to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Flights from Subang to Miri (MYY) and Sibu (SBW) will begin on December 1, 2026, with three weekly services to each destination.

Meanwhile, the Subang–Bali (DPS) route will commence on December 2, offering four weekly flights to the Indonesian island, a popular destination for holidaymakers.

The expansion strengthens Subang's role as an alternative departure point for travellers in the Klang Valley, particularly those looking for more convenient access to domestic destinations and regional holiday spots.

More options for travel to Sarawak

The addition of Miri and Sibu will strengthen air connectivity between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, where travel demand is driven by business, trade, family visits and leisure.

Miri is an important centre for Sarawak's energy and services sectors, attracting business travellers as well as visitors travelling for personal and leisure purposes.

Sibu, meanwhile, serves as a commercial hub in central Sarawak, with established links to business and trade.

Direct flights from Subang could offer greater convenience for travellers in the Klang Valley who prefer departing from an airport closer to the city rather than making the journey to KLIA.

For leisure travellers, the new Bali service adds another international option from Subang. The route is expected to appeal to holidaymakers seeking a direct connection to one of Indonesia's most popular destinations.

Batik Air sees potential in Subang

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the airline sees potential for Subang to develop as a convenient gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley as the airport continues to evolve.

“Subang has an important place in the future of travel in the Klang Valley. As the airport continues to evolve, we see an opportunity to give travellers more choices by connecting them directly to destinations that matter for business, family and leisure travel,” he said.

Chandran said the addition of Miri and Sibu would strengthen the airline's connectivity with East Malaysia, while Bali would expand the international destinations available from Subang.

“Batik Air is committed to supporting the continued development of Subang by progressively building a network that responds to how people want to travel,” he added.

He said the airline would continue exploring opportunities to connect Subang with more destinations.

Growing network from Subang

The new routes will join Batik Air's existing services from Subang to destinations including Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Bharu, Johor Bahru and Langkawi.

The expanded network will provide additional connections between the Klang Valley, East Malaysia and regional destinations, while giving passengers more flexibility when planning their journeys.

With the Miri, Sibu and Bali routes scheduled to begin in December, travellers will have more direct flight options from Subang for business trips, family visits and holidays.
