Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong admits he came close to joining Liverpool as a junior player.
Frimpong spent time at Manchester City before leaving for senior football with Celtic.
He recalled to Voetbalzone: Chelsea was always my favourite club and Liverpool also showed interest in me, but in the end I chose Manchester City.
I had a great time in Manchester, but I still had to choose my career.
"In the summer of 2019 we played a friendly against Celtic and then I received an offer from Scotland."
