Bayern Munich haven't made any progress so far in contract negotiations with midfielder Konrad Laimer, board member for sport Max Eberl said.

"There are two positions that don't align at the moment. We want to extend Konni's contract, that's a fact. Now we have to find a way to bridge the gap between our respective expectations," Eberl told broadcaster Sky ahead of the Bundesliga match at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Laimer, who is particularly valued for his versatility, has been playing for Bayern since 2023 and his contract runs until 2027.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness, however, indicated that the club is not willing to push the limits to agree on a new deal with the player.

"Konny is a player I hold in very high regard. He's incredibly important to the team, and just as important to the club's public image. He works incredibly hard for the team. But he's not (Diego) Maradona," Hoeness recently told broadcaster DAZN.
