Bayeux Tapestry to be unveiled at British Museum after historic UK return

  • The Bayeux Tapestry is being unveiled to the public at the British Museum on Thursday morning.
  • On loan until September 2027, the 70-metre-long artefact has returned to the UK for the first time in nearly 1,000 years.
  • Special conservation and security measures have been put in place to safeguard the historic tapestry.
  • Exhibition curator Michael Lewis said: “I think people will be talking about this for generations and generations, that they were there in London to see the Bayeux Tapestry when it came to this country, and hopefully they’ll be inspired to go to Bayeux as well.”
  • Tickets for the exhibition are currently sold out until the next release on 21 October.
