The Bhakra Beas Employees Union held a gate meeting protest at the office complex of the local Chief Engineer of Beas Dam and at Gol Chakkar Ghati Barrier under the leadership of union president Ashok Kumar. The meeting was conducted by union secretary Shiv Kumar.

The union expressed strong resentment over the delay in releasing pending payments related to the April 27, 1992 court award concerning employees of the Ranjit Sagar Dam Project and Shahpurkandi Project.

Union leaders alleged that despite intervention by the local administration, no action had been taken as the financial branch functions under the Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer of Bhakra Beas Management Board. They accused Senior Accounts Officer Sanjeev Kumar of delaying files by raising repeated objections.

The union warned that if pending dues were not released with this month’s salary, it would intensify protests outside the Deputy Chief Accounts Officer’s office in Talwara. Responding to the allegations, Sanjeev Kumar termed them baseless and said all observations on files were made strictly according to BBMB regulations.
