BDO Unibank Inc. financed Cebu Pacific’s acquisition of two new Airbus A320neo aircraft as the budget carrier expands its fleet to strengthen its network amid rising travel demand.
The bank said on Tuesday that it was the sole lender for the transaction, emphasizing that the financing reflected BDO’s confidence in the aviation industry’s long-term prospects.
“BDO remains committed to supporting strategic investments that enable our clients to grow and adapt in a dynamic environment,” BDO Capital President and CEO Ed Francisco said.
“Our partnership with Cebu Pacific reflects our confidence in the aviation sector’s continued recovery and long-term potential,” he added.
Charles Rodriguez, BDO executive vice president and head of institutional banking, said the bank continues to provide “financing solutions that help businesses scale, strengthen operations and advance their sustainability objectives.”
Cebu Pacific said the additional aircraft would provide more flight options for passengers while supporting its long-term growth plans.
“We value BDO’s continued support as we strengthen our operations and expand our fleet,” Cebu Pacific Chief Financial Officer Mark Julius Cezar said. “These new aircraft will enable us to better serve our passengers while advancing our long-term growth and sustainability goals.”
The airline said the Airbus A320neo aircraft offer improved fuel efficiency, lower carbon emissions and reduced noise levels, aligning with its sustainability initiatives.
BDO shares on Tuesday slipped P3.50, or 2.76 percent, to close at P123.30 each.
