People voted for you because they wanted you to be a man of action who gets things done, Rafizi, not an irritating priest, who keeps giving us unsolicited advice, about how we should change ourselves for the better.
Your job is not to change us, but to change our circumstances.
When we voted for you, we gave you power and authority, not our admiration.
If you want our admiration, at least achieve something that we can recognize. Then you can tell us how we should change ourselves for the better.
But since we only gave you power and authority, can you do us all a favour and use the power and authority that we have given you to change the circumstances of our lives?
Increase or decrease a tax, do something about export tariffs or customs duties or subsidies, fine somebody or throw somebody in jail, or just use the power and the authority we give to change the circumstances of our lives.
If you really think that not eating out is how we can solve our problem with our income, then use your position in the government to stop foreign workers from filling in positions in the F&B sector.
Without foreign workers, many eateries will shut down and people will reduce eating out.
I don't understand how you can belong to the same government that approves work permits for foreign workers so that eateries won't close down and then ask people to stop eating in the eateries that the government itself is allowing to proliferate by granting these eateries the right to hire foreign workers.
You can't have your pie and eat it too, Rafizi. You can't hunt with the hounds and run with the foxes.
When you allow foreign workers in and then ask the people to stop eating out to control their expenses, you are not solving anyone's problems, you are just creating alibis for yourself. You are just preparing excuses to say how you have helped the eateries to keep their business running and the people to manage their expenses, without helping anybody.
Do you have any ideas as to how to use the power and authority we have given you to move things forward?
If you do, please carry it out and if you don't, please do the honorable thing and step aside, so somebody else who has an idea can use the power and authority we have given the government to move things forward.
If you need some time to put together an action plan, fine, take your time, but please be silent in the meantime and stop irritating us by saying that we need to stop eating chicken if chicken prices are high and we need to stop eating out to control our expenses.
These are not bright ideas. These are the sort of ideas you expect a primary school student to have.
Don't tell us we don't understand what you are saying and take us down a rabbit hole where we have to hear you explain why what you said is not what we heard either.
We are not interested in having a lover's tiff with the ministers we elected.
Be a part of the solution Rafizi, not a part of the problem.
If you can't do it for us, then at least do it for yourself.
The unity government is facing all sorts of challenges, and not only are you not helping, but you are a part of the problem.
Change yourself before you ask others to change.
Change yourself before you yourself are changed.
If you really can't change, then for god's sake, at least go back to the corporate world. According to reports, you have achieved great success in the corporate field. Maybe it will be best for you, for us and for the unity government if you return to the corporate world and continue your success there.
