MANILA, Philippines — Bea Alonzo has tapped veteran publicist and film producer Chris Cahilig as her interim manager following the resignation of longtime talent manager Shirley Kuan, who stepped down on Aug. 11 after nearly six years with the actress.
The management change comes about a month after Alonzo quietly married Puregold President Vincent Co in a civil ceremony in Makati on July 13.
Cahilig’s immediate role is to oversee Alonzo’s pending professional commitments, including existing contracts, incoming endorsement inquiries and other unfinished business while the actress determines her long-term management arrangement.
Cahilig is a familiar figure in the entertainment industry, having worked as a publicist, talent manager, film producer and director. He heads Insight 360, a creative agency involved in public relations, talent management and digital marketing.
He is also a longtime publicist for Puregold and currently serves as festival director of the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival, which supports Filipino filmmakers and independent cinema.
His appointment marks a return to a professional relationship with Alonzo as she enters a new chapter in both her personal and career life.
Reports have pointed to a professional misunderstanding between Kuan and Alonzo before the resignation.
The resignation also came amid reports surrounding Alonzo’s wedding to Co. The couple held a private civil ceremony in Makati on July 13, with details of the wedding emerging afterward.
Kuan later said in an interview that she was unaware of the wedding beforehand.
