THE Philippines’ largest maritime exhibition and conference is returning for its third consecutive year this September, bridging blue economy, tourism, logistics, shipbuilding, and defense at a time when maritime industry is navigating a complex period of transitions and territorial challenges. The Blue Economy Annual Trade and Conference (Beacon), an international maritime conference and trade exhibition, is scheduled for Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at the SM X Convention Center Manila. It is organized by The Maritime League in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Beacon 2026 will run alongside a three-day international ship and boat show at the headquarters of the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard, as well as a networking event at the Manila Yacht Club. “When we established Beacon Expo, our vision was clear — to create a national platform where the maritime community could come together under one roof. It reflects our belief that no single organization can build maritime excellence alone — we succeed through partnerships,” said Vice Admiral Eduardo Santos, chairman and president of the Maritime League Inc.
The event’s central theme, “Maritime Excellence: Powering the Philippine Blue Economy,” aims to address vulnerabilities on maritime domain and by bridging the gap between national defense and sustainable economic growth. Blue economy refers to the sustainable use, management, and conservation of ocean and coastal resources to drive economic growth, improve livelihoods, and maintain healthy marine ecosystems. “Beacon brings decision makers together. It creates an environment where ideas become partnerships that translate into solutions benefitting the entire maritime ecosystem,” said Rear Admiral Margarito Sanchez Jr., AFP (ret), trustee and treasurer of the Maritime League.
Beacon’s co-located exhibitions and conferences include the Philippine Shipping and Shipbuilding Conference (Philshipcon), Maritime Logistics Chain Expo, Maritime Defense and Security Symposium, and Blue Tourism Expo. It will also feature the BIAP Manila International Boat Show, the Beaconers Maritime Job Fair, and investor forums.
