BEAUFORT: Traders are worried that the weekly market (tamu) in Bukau will be demolished because it is in the way of the Pan Borneo Highway project.
Beaufort Business Entrepreneurs Chairman Awang Anak Selamat said local traders expressed concern over the matter as they would be losing their source of income.
He said officials from the Beaufort District Office, Land and Survey Department and Pan Borneo Contractors had marked the affected buildings with paint for demolishment.
“We cannot wait long because without a trading area we will lose our income,” he told Daily Express on Thursday.
