BEAUFORT: Some 30 passengers were left waiting for a train at the Halogelat Station after the train went off-schedule on Sunday.
A resident, Edwin Louis, told Daily Express that the passengers were upset.
The train usually departed from Beaufort station at 5am and arrived at the Halogelat Station between 5.40 and 5.45am, at Montnior Station, Batu 61 at 6.30am and Beaufort station at 6.50am.
On Sunday, however, the train came at 5.18am and left a few minutes later without waiting for any passengers, Edwin said.
“The passengers comprising traders and civil servants as well as villagers who had to go to the hospital for treatment were left there as the train had left,” he elaborated.
Fortunately, it was the school holidays so they were not affected. If it were during school days they would definitely have missed class.
Edwin said many people went there on time but the train had already left before they could reach the station.
“Why was the driver in a hurry to get back to town? They should wait for the passengers according to the set schedule by the Railway Department,” Edwin said.
“As the train left the station early, 30 passengers were left behind,” he said, adding the driver should follow the schedule set by the Railway Department and not set his own time.
