BEAUFORT: Umno Beaufort Youth head Ak Mohd Yazri Ak Mohd Yahaya, who was recently appointed for the post, is determined to make the youth wing in the frontline of the party and become the mouthpiece in all aspects of issues involving the people’s interests.
He said the main focus was to help the party rise again, especially in restoring the support of young people to the party.
“After the 15th General Election (GE15) and in the current political situation which was very dynamic and constantly changing, Umno is facing challenges to continue to remain relevant and be the voice of the people, especially in attracting the young people’s support.
“To ensure our unification and strength, the youths are always ready to step forward and be the shield of the party we love,” Yazri said when met after being announced the Umno Beaufort Youth head for the 2023-2026 session.
He defeated his challenger, who is a former Assistant Secretary of the Umno Beaufort Youth, Fadthul Radzi Lee Mohd Fadzlee with a majority of 18 votes.
In order to gain back the support of young people to Umno, he said Umno Youth needs to rise up and reach out to the young people.
In light of that, Yazri said various plans will be arranged to attract the young people, especially in preparing for the 16th General Election (GE16).
“We need to apply practical approaches to reach the young people and organise programmes that are relevant to the current situation without neglecting the traditional activities of sports, culture, education and welfare of the younger generation,” he said.
He thanked all those who voted for him and hopes to increase the membership of the Umno Beaufort Youth machinery.
