Kota Kinabalu: The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) has shelved plans to construct a promenade around the Likas Lagoon for the time being due to funds.
A DID spokeswoman said it hoped to proceed with the beautification effort in “two to three years’ time”.
“We do not have any extra funds to beautify the Lagoon this year,” she said. “The plan for the walkway was not in the Bill of Quantities (BQ) which we submitted to the Government.”
The Department mooted the have a “simple promenade” put in place last year as the Lagoon was valued as a “hotspot” among certain sectors of the community.
