Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has weighed into Cristiano Ronaldo's problems at Manchester United.

Ronaldo, an unused sub for last night's win against Tottenham, left Old Trafford befere the final whistle, it has been claimed.

Martinez told the Manchester Evening News: "Cristiano Ronaldo is a cult player. He has two problems. The first is that he is 37 years old, so when he has a bad game, everyone says he is too old and he shouldn't play bad games.

"The problem this year is that the coach can make five substitutions. Ronaldo comes from an era where if you don't play for 90 minutes it's considered something bad.

"Now we see that attacking players do not play for 90 minutes regularly, maybe 20 or 30 minutes due to the intensity and requirements of the Premier League."
