Bruno Fernandes’ display drew plenty of praise from Manchester United fans, as his influence helped them secure a crucial three points in the Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
The United captain’s first assist came when his corner was met by Casemiro, who headed home to give the hosts the early lead.
Fernandes also played a key role in United’s second goal, threading a pass through to Matheus Cunha, who broke through the Aston Villa defence before finding Rasmus Hojlund for the finish.

Matheus Cunha saw exactly what Fernandes was about to do and timed his run perfectly, meeting the pass before guiding a low shot into the bottom corner.
Cunha’s goal wiped out Ross Barkley’s equaliser and put United ahead, a lead they didn’t let go of. After the match, Ben Foster couldn’t help but highlight the quality of Fernandes’ assist.
Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, Foster said: “So, Bruno, obviously, two assists in the game.
“The second one was just world class, yeah? That to me is a proper assist, right? He’s just beaten David Beckham’s assist record, right? Sir David Beckham, sorry.”
He continued: “Yeah, I know, but yeah that’s like Bruno yesterday he was just honestly phenomenal.”

Bruno Fernandes now has 16 assists from just 27 league games this campaign after his performance against Villa.
He has surpassed Sir David Beckham for the most assists by a Manchester United player in a single Premier League season.
With eight matches left, he’s still got plenty of time to either match or break the all-time record, which belongs to Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne at 20.
In total, the United captain has scored seven times and registered 17 assists across all competitions from 29 matches so far this season.
