Ben Stiller appears to have confirmed that production for season three of Severance has commenced.
It’s been nearly two years since the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller was renewed for a third season following the conclusion of season two in March 2025.
The series, starring Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman and Patricia Arquette, follows a group of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives.
On Monday, Stiller, who serves as a director and executive producer on the show, shared a cryptic photo featuring Lower’s Helly R. and Scott’s Mark running through the white, sanitized hallways of Lumon Industries, as they glowed red.
“To return to work is to return home,” he wrote in the X caption, quoting one of the show’s main antagonists, Kier Eagan (Marc Geller).

Stiller’s post has been viewed more than 2 million times and has received hundreds of comments from eager fans hoping it is an official update on the forthcoming season.
“Please tell me this means s3 is finally shooting,” one person wrote, while a second quipped: “You’ll post this and give us the 3rd season like 5 years later.”
“Can’t believe shooting is still about to begin. That means 2 years before S3 airs. All good tho,” a third said.
Others appealed to Stiller’s love for the New York Knicks, who won their first NBA championship in 53 years last month.
“Knicks winning the chip revitalized your creativity and motivation to give us another season I know it,” a fourth said, with another excitedly adding: “CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO.”
“Can you release szn 3 and szn 4 at the same time so I can properly binge watch?” another begged. “I can’t do the slow drip of 1 episode per week Ben.”
The acclaimed series debuted on Apple TV+ in 2022 before finally returning with its second season three years later in 2025. Throughout its run, the series has become one of the platform’s most-watched originals.
So far, it has accumulated 41 Emmy nominations and 10 wins. Last year, it dominated the Emmy nominations with a staggering 27 nominations, but went on to lose several of the major categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, which went to HBO Max’s inventive medical drama The Pitt.
A release date for season three has yet to be announced, though it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2027.
