Manchester United may have to be patient with respect to one of their loan players.

The development of United loanee Alvaro Fernandez has been a subject of chatter among fans.

Many are disappointed that he has not been playing more often at Benfica since signing on loan in the winter.

However, Benfica coach Roger Schmidt told A Bola: "Alvaro is doing well in training.

"He has already played a few minutes, but in the future he could also play as a starter.

"He is working well, he is a player capable of quickly understanding tactical behaviors, he adapts quickly and I am looking forward to seeing him on the field."
