Bentley Torcal Marks Brand’s Entry Into All Electric Luxury

Bentley Motors has officially unveiled the all-new Bentley Torcal at a global debut event in London, marking the British luxury brand’s entry into the battery-electric vehicle segment.

Entering the lineup as Bentley’s fourth model line alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga, the Torcal is designed, engineered, and handcrafted at the marque’s historic headquarters in Crewe, England.

Speaking at the unveiling, Bentley Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser stated that the Torcal establishes a technical and aesthetic template for future Bentleys. The vehicle launches with two distinct specifications: a core model and the more performance-oriented Torcal S.

High-Output Electric Powertrain and Record Torque

Propulsion is delivered by twin permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors operating on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture. Both motors feature lifetime oil-filled dry sump enclosures; the front motor uses an open differential, while the rear drive unit integrates an active locking differential with multi-plate clutches on each output shaft.

The powertrain offers two levels of output:

• Core Torcal: Produces 821 PS (809 bhp / 604 kW) and 1,194 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds) with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
• Torcal S: Unlocks up to 888 PS (876 bhp / 653 kW) and 1,350 Nm of torque with Launch Control engaged, setting a record as the highest-torque production Bentley ever built. It reaches 60 mph in 2.8 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds) and achieves a maximum track speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).

Electrical energy is stored in a 113 kWh net capacity lithium-ion battery pack made of 192 pouch cells arranged in series, supported by a 10-year or 100,000-mile factory warranty.

The SUV delivers an estimated WLTP driving range of up to 375 miles (600 km). Operating at ultra-fast charging speeds up to 400 kW, the battery can replenish from 10% to 80% state of charge in 16 minutes, adding roughly 100 miles (161 km) of range in seven minutes.

Active Suspension and All-Wheel Steering

The Torcal debuts Bentley’s first fully active chassis system, combining reactive two-valve dampers with electrically driven hydraulic actuation. The setup eliminates conventional mechanical anti-roll bars entirely, adjusting damping resistance and anti-roll torque independently across each corner to deliver a level, composed ride over variable road surfaces.

Standard electronic All-Wheel Steering supplies up to five degrees of rear-wheel steering angle, reducing the five-meter SUV’s turning circle to 11.1 metres for enhanced urban maneuverability.

Stopping power is managed by an iron braking setup with 420 mm front and 370 mm rear discs, or an optional Carbon Silicon Carbide (CSiC) ceramic system featuring 440 mm front discs—among the largest production brakes in the world—paired with 410 mm rear rotors.

Exterior Proportions and Distinctive Illuminated Face

Conceived under Design Director Robin Page, the Torcal features a low, aerodynamic SUV profile characterized by a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and prominent rear wheel haunches described by the design team as the “resting beast.”

It is also the first production vehicle to wear Bentley’s modernised brand emblem.

Up front, the vehicle showcases an illuminated diamond radiator grille paired with advanced lighting elements referencing the Continental T. At the rear, clean surfacing forms a “prestigious shield” graphic derived from the earlier EXP 15 concept vehicle.

Practicality is maintained with a 460-litre rear luggage boot, a 90-litre front trunk (frunk), and a selection of 21-inch and 22-inch alloy wheel designs.

Handcrafted Dynamic Symphony and Sustainable Cabin Materials

Rather than synthesizing an artificial motor hum, Bentley acoustic engineers collaborated with live musicians playing drums, viola, and bass guitars to compose the Bentley Dynamic Symphony. The low-frequency acoustic accompaniment modulates dynamically in response to vehicle velocity and driver torque demand, delivering sensory acceleration feedback without direct engine imitation.

Inside, the cabin features curved OLED dashboard displays, physical knurled dials, and four selectable Experience Modes (Bentley, Comfort, Sport, and Refresh).

The interior introduces sustainable luxury trim options, including:

• Certified 100% Merino wool upholstery developed alongside Somerset clothier Fox Brothers.
• Ombré Walnut by Mulliner, crafted from up to 1,000 pressed layers of recycled craft paper and walnut off-cuts sliced to less than a millimetre in thickness.
• Sunburst Aluminium by Mulliner, featuring an intricate three-way brush pattern reminiscent of vintage engine-turned alloy dashboards.
• Available 28-speaker, 1,780-watt Naim for Bentley audio system featuring headrest-integrated speakers, kinaesthetic seat shakers, and Dolby Atmos 7.1 surround sound.

Driver convenience is supported by four radar-controlled powered doors, facial recognition user profile loading, an augmented reality head-up display, and a suite of 25 exterior sensors and cameras enabling automated obstacle reverse assist and trained garage parking.
