The RM7.2 million initiative gives defence community graduates direct industry placements and paid training opportunities across 23 companies.
KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Property Berhad has strengthened its commitment to youth employability through its collaboration with the Defence Ministry (MINDEF) and Yayasan LTAT under the PROWIRA Ready To Work (RTW) Graduan Programme.
Aimed at preparing graduates from the defence community for the workforce, the initiative has successfully secured placements for several participants across various Berjaya subsidiaries, providing industry exposure and hands-on experience in diverse sectors.
Berjaya Property said the collaboration reflected a shared commitment towards nurturing skilled, competitive and future-ready young talents, with the selected graduates scheduled to officially begin employment on June 1.
The announcement was made following the launch of the PROWIRA Ready To Work (RTW) Graduan Programme at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ministry had allocated RM7.2 million for the implementation of the programme, which would provide 300 graduates, including children of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel, with job training opportunities at 23 selected companies.
He said the programme, implemented through Yayasan LTAT, formed part of broader efforts to strengthen the welfare agenda for military personnel and their families through education and employment opportunities.
The programme focuses on graduates who are children of serving MAF personnel, MAF veterans and Defence Ministry staff.
“Throughout the 12-month placement period at the participating companies, participants will receive a monthly allowance of RM2,000 paid by the government through Yayasan LTAT.
“We hope their placement in these companies will provide meaningful exposure and help them succeed in the working world,” he said during the launch ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari, Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, Yayasan LTAT chief executive Datuk Dr Nizar Sudin and Berjaya Property Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer Syed Ali Syed Shahul Hameed.
At the event, the Professional Accountancy Collaboration programme was also launched in partnership with Yayasan Peneraju, offering children of MAF personnel opportunities to pursue professional studies through a strategic financing structure.
Mohamed Khaled said the programme underscored the ministry’s continued commitment to expanding educational benefits and career pathways through strategic collaborations.
“Under the programme, 90% of the funding will be borne by Yayasan Peneraju while the remaining 10% will be funded by Yayasan LTAT,” he said.
The minister also presented contribution cheques worth RM222,814.40 to six principals of schools located in military camps under the Sentuhan Elit SPM 2025 Programme, as well as a RM376,488 contribution cheque from Yayasan LTAT to Sultan Idris Education University for the implementation of the e-Perkasa Programme 2026.
He also witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding for the Professional Accounting Certification Programme (ACCA) between Yayasan Peneraju and Yayasan LTAT.
The event additionally saw the presentation of corporate social responsibility contribution cheques totalling RM3 million to Yayasan LTAT from contributors including Affin Bank Berhad, BH Petrol, Perwira Niaga Malaysia, Boustead Holdings Berhad and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).
