Germany's parliament on Thursday extended the country's naval mission off the Lebanese coast for a final time.
A large majority of lawmakers backed the continued German participation in the UN peacekeeping mission UNIFIL, which is due to end at the close of the year.
UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers have monitored the border area between Israel and Lebanon since 1978.
Mainly at Washington's urging, the UN Security Council decided last year to end the mission.
The main aim of the German navy operation is to intercept weapons deliveries intended for the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia, alongside supporting training for the regular Lebanese armed forces.
The withdrawal of German troops is due to be completed in early 2027. To that end, the Bundestag resolution stipulates that the maximum number of German soldiers is to be reduced from 300 to 80 at the turn of the year.
The reduced contingent will then bring the long-standing mission to a full close.
