BERSAMA has opened applications for Malaysians interested in contesting under its banner, in what it describes as a move to reshape politics around talent, merit and the country’s future.
In a statement today, the party said the initiative is part of its broader effort to introduce a more open and transparent approach to selecting election candidates — one that gives ordinary Malaysians a chance to step into the political arena.
Those interested can apply through BERSAMA’s online portal, although applicants must first register as members before submitting their candidacy.
Applicants are required to provide detailed personal information, including their educational background, career history, family details, and financial standing — covering income and assets.
“They will then go through an initial screening interview conducted via an algorithm-driven system, aimed at gauging qualities such as communication, presence and readiness for public office.”
“Applications that pass this stage will be reviewed by a dedicated committee, which will assess candidates based on their expertise, contributions to society and past political involvement, if any.”
“The goal is to ensure candidates reflect the party’s values and public image,” the statement read.
Ground Feedback Still Matters
Beyond digital screening, shortlisted candidates will undergo a second round of evaluation that includes community-level feedback, allowing the party to better understand how candidates are perceived on the ground.
Those who make it through will be invited for a final face-to-face assessment with the party’s central leadership.
Successful candidates will then be announced in stages as part of BERSAMA’s growing lineup.
Focus on Johor and Negeri Sembilan
As part of its immediate plans, the party said priority will be given to identifying candidates for upcoming state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
Applicants must indicate the parliamentary or state seat they intend to contest. For state seats, candidates are required by law to reside in the respective state.
The application portal will remain open until Parliament is dissolved.
