Bersatu forms special squad for flood relief operations

KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu has formed a special squad known as “Skuad Prihatin Bersatu” to mobilise assets and volunteers for flood relief missions throughout the country.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in a statement today said the matter was decided during the party’s supreme council meeting chaired by its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

He said that Bersatu’s supreme council member Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah would lead the mission, which would be launched during the state-level Perikatan Nasional launch in Temerloh, Pahang, on October 10.

“The squad’s strength will be enhanced from time to time to ensure the welfare of the victims before, during and after the floods,” he said, adding that the party also urged the government to be fully focused on preparations to face the northeast monsoon season.

According to Hamzah, Bersatu’s supreme council also discussed the party machinery’s preparedness for the 15th general election which can be called at anytime. – Bernama, October 7, 2022
