Kota Kinabalu: Bersatu Sabah Secretary Abdul Kadir Abdulkah @ OKK Haji Damsal will remain active in the party despite resigning from the post.
No reason was given in his resignation letter, effective July 14, submitted to Bersatu Sabah head Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.
Abdul Kadir remains committed to the party as the divisional head of Batu Sapi in Sandakan.
Abdul Kadir’s resignation comes after a period of significant change within Bersatu Sabah.

Prior to this, he served as the Secretary of the Strategy and Election Unit under Hajiji’s leadership and as the Secretary of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)
Bersatu State committee chaired by Datuk Maijol Mahap. Despite his resignation, Abdul Kadir expressed his unwavering loyalty to Bersatu under the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He plans to continue strengthening the party in Sabah by establishing new branches and recruiting new members.
“I believe that under the leadership of Muhyiddin, Bersatu Sabah can still attract a lot of supporters, especially in rural areas,” Abdul Kadir said.
Abdul Kadir, a lawyer and former magistrate, has been a member of Bersatu since its inception in Sabah in 2019. His resignation, while unexpected, does not signal a complete departure from the party.
His continued involvement as a divisional head suggests a commitment to maintaining his influence within Bersatu Sabah and contributing to its growth.
The reasons behind Abdul Kadir’s resignation remain unclear.
However, his decision to step down from the position amid the ongoing political landscape in Sabah raises questions about the future of Bersatu Sabah and its ability to maintain its presence in the State.
