Babysitting is a popular childcare option that has grown in demand over the years. It involves a committed caregiver looking after our children on behalf of their parents who are working full-time during the day. Thus, it offers parents the flexibility and peace of mind they need in their busy professional lives. I realized babysitters contribute to parents' happiness in ways that go beyond simple childcare. They provide a foundation of security, support & flexibility.
This is based on the challenging experiences of my wife, Zarina & I when we were busy building-up our careers, and concurrently then our four children are also growing up. Babysitters offered a wide range of benefits for both children and ourselves. It plays a vital role in the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our children while providing valuable experience, income, and personal growth for the caregivers. So, babysitting is an essential service!
When my eldest daughter, Jann, a government officer and her husband, Faiz, an architect encountered similar challenges, we helped them to engage the service of a good babysitter, Mak Gee, the wife of a respectable Police Sargent, Hamdan who lives within our neighborhood. All their four children from birth, infants & primary education were taken care by Mak Gee who treated them just like her extended family. Hamdan had retired and relocated to Perak.
In conjunction with the school holidays and Aidiladha celebrations, my wife & I accompanied our grandchildren and their parents visited Abah Hamdan & Mak Gee at their new home in Perak. I noticed a strong bond between a baby sitter, Mak Gee and the children under years of her loving care. Children who trust babysitter feel safer and are less likely to experience separation anxiety in the absent of their parents. I witnessed the episode of interacting with a trusted caregiver outside the immediate family helps our grandchildren develop better emotional intelligence, social adaptability & communication skills.
