During its two years in power, the Madani Government received a D grade of 45.8 percent from the Clean and Adil Election Coalition (Bersih).
Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz, its chairman, stated that the grade indicates a notable disparity in the amount of action and progress made in the implementation of reforms.
According to Sinar Harian, Bersih wants to stress that the election manifesto should provide them an edge in completing all of the reform objectives and that it is still legally binding even if other parties join the alliance.
“Two out of seven points on the manifesto's 70 percent accountability score scale for electoral reform are still in development, while the remaining points have not been put into practice.
“Five of the eighteen institutional reforms have been effectively implemented; seven are in the works, and the remaining ones have not been completed. However, three civil freedoms have been established, two are being worked on, and three have not yet been put into effect.
"Regarding the comparison benchmark with several previous prime ministers, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, only achieved a score of 18 out of 30 percent," he stated.
The Madani Government's Two-Year Evaluation Report (2TM) and the Eight-Year Celebration After Bersih 5 were inaugurated here last Tuesday, and he made these remarks during the 'Are We Achieving Change' conference.
Muhammad Faisal believes that since the administration has already crossed the midpoint of its five-year term and no significant changes have been made, it does not have enough time to carry out all of the reforms.
“The previous administration was able to demonstrate that significant reforms could be done in just two years,” said the Bersih chairman.
However, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim defended the Madani Government. According to him, his government is still very new and it is too soon to evaluate the Madani government's overall accomplishments, as reported by Astro Awani.
In response to the Clean and Adil Election Coalition's (Bersih) D grade, the prime minister made this statement. Nonetheless, he is hopeful that his administration will eventually receive a higher grade.
“In reference to the Bersih report, a D is acceptable rather than an F (failed). This government is very new. The UPSR (Primary School Achievement Test) received a D, and the SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Education) will receive an A tomorrow, God willing," said the Prime Minister.
