In a surprising turn of events, Malaysian actor Danny X-Factor, also known as Mohd Kardanie bin Anwa, has embraced a unique career path by working as an e-hailing driver since 2017. Contrary to expectations, he not only finds fulfillment in the unconventional choice but is also committed to making it a long-term endeavor.
In a candid interview with Harian Metro, the 43-year-old actor shed light on his unexpected career shift. Initially, Danny started e-hailing for leisure but gradually recognized its income potential, prompting him to transform it into a steady occupation. Despite being a well-known face in the entertainment industry, Danny revealed that driving serves as a therapeutic activity for him, providing an avenue to meet diverse people.
Remarkably, he expressed a commitment to his e-hailing gig, even claiming that he would prefer it over acting offers if presented with the choice. Unfazed by the criticism he received for prioritizing e-hailing over his acting career, Danny remains resolute in his pursuit of an honest living.
"I don't feel stressed driving. It's like a form of therapy to me because I get to meet more people. Even if I were to receive an acting offer, I would still choose e-hailing," he stated.
While advocating for his unemployed artiste friends to consider e-hailing, Danny acknowledged the reluctance of some due to feelings of shame or the lack of personal vehicles. Despite societal judgments, he remains steadfast in his belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to make an honest living.
Contrary to previous reports stating that Danny earned a consistent RM400 to RM500 per day, he clarified that his daily earnings fluctuate. Emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the e-hailing business, he remarked, "Whether I make RM10 or more, it's all up to fate." Despite the financial uncertainties, Danny strategically plans his working days to meet his financial obligations.
Beyond the pursuit of income, Danny's commitment to social responsibility shines through. He not only offers free rides to students but also extends this gesture to passengers with disabilities. His generosity stems from a genuine sympathy for their situations, emphasizing that their well-being takes precedence over monetary gains.
"Sometimes when students want to go to the library and other places, whenever they want to pay, I'll tell them to keep the cash and study hard instead. It's the same for disabled passengers. I won't take their money because I sympathize with them," he stated.
In addition to his e-hailing endeavors, Danny has found contentment working behind the scenes in the film industry. As a co-producer and production manager for Double Channel Sdn Bhd, a local film production company, he proudly shared the success of their first film, "Janna Endoro," featuring Trisha Ooi and Pekin. The film, an action-packed narrative with a female protagonist, marks a significant milestone in Danny's multifaceted career.
In essence, Danny X-Factor's journey from the glitz of the entertainment industry to the wheels of an e-hailing car paints a picture of resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to an unconventional yet fulfilling path. His story serves as a reminder that happiness and satisfaction can be found in unexpected places, challenging societal norms and expectations.
